The Railway experience, on servers you own

Railway made deploying feel effortless: a canvas of services, git push to ship, databases one click away. Falak borrows that model on purpose, and runs it on your own servers instead of Railway’s cloud.

Choose Falak if…

  • You want your apps and data on servers you control (a Hetzner box, a VPS, bare metal).
  • Your costs should track flat server prices, not per-resource usage.
  • You deploy Laravel or PHP and want native FrankenPHP/PHP-FPM, Horizon, Octane and a scheduler with heartbeats.
  • You want logs, metrics, traces and APM built in, on your own LGTM stack.

Choose Railway if…

  • You never want to operate a server, OS update or backup yourself.
  • You need pull-request preview environments today.
  • You need several regions or fast horizontal scaling without planning capacity.

Where Railway is better

Falak is not the right tool for everyone. Railway is the stronger choice here:

  • Fully managed infrastructure: no servers, patches or disks to look after.
  • Pull-request environments and a mature, polished workflow around them.
  • Scaling across regions and replicas without buying servers first.
  • A large template marketplace and an established community.

FAQ

Falak vs Railway: questions

Something missing? Ask on GitHub.

Is Falak a self-hosted Railway alternative?

Yes. Falak gives you a Railway-style project canvas, git push deploys, databases and variable references, but it runs on servers you own. You install the control plane with one command and connect any Ubuntu or Debian server.

Does Falak have preview environments like Railway?

Not yet. Falak supports several environments per project (for example production and staging, duplicated from each other), but automatic per-pull-request environments are not available.

Is Falak cheaper than Railway?

Falak itself is free. What you pay is your server bill, which is a flat monthly price at providers like Hetzner or DigitalOcean. Whether that is cheaper depends on your workload; steady workloads usually benefit most from flat pricing.
