Railway alternatives, including a self-hosted canvas
Railway’s canvas and developer experience are hard to give up. If you need your workloads on servers you own, predictable bills, or a native Laravel runtime, these are the alternatives to consider.
What to look for
- A project canvas and environments, or at least a clear service model.
- Git push deploys with rollbacks.
- Databases next to the app, with backups.
- Where the app runs: their cloud or your servers.
This list is published by the Falak project, so Falak comes first. Every entry is described from its own public materials.

Falak
Self-hostedOpen-source platform you install on your own server. Railway-style canvas, git push deploys for Laravel/PHP, Node, Bun, Deno, static sites, Docker and Compose, databases, domains with automatic HTTPS, and built-in logs, traces and APM.
Good for: Keeping the Railway workflow while moving to your own servers.

Render
ManagedManaged cloud for web services, static sites, workers, cron jobs and Postgres, with preview environments.
Good for: Managed hosting with a Heroku-like model and autoscaling.

Fly.io
ManagedRuns your app’s containers as lightweight virtual machines in regions close to your users.
Good for: Multi-region apps that still want a managed platform.
- 04
Heroku
ManagedThe original git push PaaS: dynos, buildpacks, managed Postgres and an add-on marketplace.
Good for: Teams that value the add-on marketplace and pipelines.

Coolify
Self-hostedOpen-source, self-hostable PaaS built around Docker, with a large catalog of one-click services and a paid cloud option.
Good for: Container-first teams that want a mature self-hosted panel.

Dokku
Self-hostedOpen-source, single-server “mini Heroku”: git push to a server, built with buildpacks or Dockerfiles, extended by plugins.
Good for: One server, command-line workflows, Heroku muscle memory.
Is there a self-hosted Railway?
Railway itself is managed only. Falak was designed around the same model (projects, environments, services on a canvas, variable references between services) and runs entirely on your own servers.
