Falak vs Coolify · as of September 2026

Two self-hosted platforms, different strengths

Coolify is a popular open-source, self-hosted PaaS built around Docker. Falak is also self-hosted, but runs PHP and Node apps natively (no container required), talks to servers through a small Go agent over mTLS, and ships an observability stack with APM.

Choose Falak if…

  • You deploy Laravel and want native FrankenPHP or PHP-FPM, Octane, Horizon and scheduler heartbeats.
  • You want logs, metrics, traces and Nightwatch-style APM built in.
  • You like a Railway-style canvas with environments and variable references.
  • You prefer an outbound-only agent over mTLS instead of the panel holding SSH access.

Choose Coolify if…

  • You want a mature project with a large community and a big one-click service catalog.
  • Your stack is container-first and you want everything in Docker.
  • You need pull-request preview deployments today.

Where Coolify is better

Falak is not the right tool for everyone. Coolify is the stronger choice here:

  • Maturity: years of releases and a large, active community.
  • A much larger catalog of one-click services.
  • Preview deployments for pull requests.
  • A hosted option if you do not want to run the panel yourself.

FAQ

Falak vs Coolify: questions

Something missing? Ask on GitHub.

What is the difference between Falak and Coolify?

Both are self-hosted. Coolify is container-first and more mature. Falak runs PHP and Node apps natively as well as Docker/Compose, manages servers through a lightweight Go agent over mTLS, and includes an observability stack with APM.

Can Falak deploy Docker Compose files like Coolify?

Yes. Compose files come from your repository or are stored in Falak with version history. Images are pinned by digest so rollbacks are exact, and a policy blocks privileged containers by default.
