Vercel alternatives, managed and self-hosted

Teams look past Vercel for three reasons: cost as usage grows, backends that need long-running processes, and wanting their code and data on infrastructure they control. Here are the options worth a look, and who each one suits.

What to look for

  • Can it run a full backend (queues, cron, websockets), not only a frontend?
  • Does pricing stay predictable as traffic grows?
  • Can you run it on your own servers, or at least choose where data lives?
  • Does it keep preview URLs, instant rollbacks and automatic HTTPS?

This list is published by the Falak project, so Falak comes first. Every entry is described from its own public materials.

  1. 01

    Falak

    Self-hosted

Open-source platform you install on your own server. Railway-style canvas, git push deploys for Laravel/PHP, Node, Bun, Deno, static sites, Docker and Compose, databases, domains with automatic HTTPS, and built-in logs, traces and APM.

Good for: Full-stack apps (Laravel, Node, Bun, static) on your own servers at flat server prices.

  2. 02

    Netlify

    Managed

Managed platform for web frontends: git deploys, deploy previews, serverless and edge functions.

Good for: Static and Jamstack sites with preview-driven workflows.

  3. 03

    Cloudflare Workers & Pages

    Managed

Static sites and serverless functions deployed on Cloudflare’s global network.

Good for: Edge-first apps and static sites that need global reach.

  4. 04

    Render

    Managed

Managed cloud for web services, static sites, workers, cron jobs and Postgres, with preview environments.

Good for: Managed hosting with a Heroku-like model and autoscaling.

    Falak vs Render
  5. 05

    Railway

    Managed

Managed platform with a project canvas, git deploys, databases and usage-based pricing.

Good for: Teams that want a polished managed experience and no servers.

    Falak vs Railway
  6. 06

    Coolify

    Self-hosted

Open-source, self-hostable PaaS built around Docker, with a large catalog of one-click services and a paid cloud option.

Good for: Container-first teams that want a mature self-hosted panel.

    Falak vs Coolify
  7. 07

    Fly.io

    Managed

Runs your app’s containers as lightweight virtual machines in regions close to your users.

Good for: Multi-region apps that still want a managed platform.

Questions

What is the best self-hosted Vercel alternative?

Falak and Coolify are the main self-hosted options with a web panel. Falak focuses on native runtimes (Laravel/PHP, Node, Bun, Deno, static), a Railway-style canvas and built-in observability; Coolify is container-first and more mature.

Can I host a Next.js app outside Vercel?

Yes. Next.js runs as a Node server. Falak has a Next preset that builds once and deploys to one or more of your servers with zero-downtime releases.
